R2 agent health service problem

Hi,

I upgraded my scom from sp1 to r2, all systems works well, but scom reporting server installed on standalone server has an issue with health service.

After upgrade reporting component to r2 i installed r2 agent on it, but health service failed to start with message:

"The System Center Management service terminated with service-specific error 2164195447 (0x80FF0077)."

I imported registry key "WindowsAccountLockDownSD" from another health service machine to it. Health Service start correctly, but in opsmgr event log i started getting these errors:

"Health service 7009: The Health Service cannot find the credential for the action account for management group baltika. Monitoring will be significantly impacted"

"Health service 7005: The Health Service was unable to publish its public key to management group baltika and will be unable to receive secure messages until this key is published. Attempts to publish the key will continue."

"Health Dervice 7022: The Health Service has downloaded secure configuration for management group baltika, and processing the configuration failed with error code 0x80FF0066(0x80FF0066)."

Any ideas how can I solve this iisue?

Thanks.

Hi Yury, First have you upgrade the DW?

Alsocould you send me a exported copy on this registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ Health Services \ Parameters \ Management Groups \ Intern \ SSDB \ References so I can check if there are any missing keys on the SRS server

Here's the thought, did this box have the Beta version of R2 Version 6.1.6407.0 as the reporting and agent cannot be upgraded. Have a look in the Registry for the version 6.1.6407.0 via a search or F3

Hi Simon,

I checked registry and did not find version 6.1.6407.0 just 6.1.7721.0.

SCOM SP1 reporting server version was installed on this server before upgrade to r2 (RTM).

Thanks for the update, I can across this problem last week where SRS reported an agent error the same as your, I had found that there were old components in the registry that created the problem. So here is a list of things to check

go to the MMC to Certs Local Computer in the OpsMgr folder how many certs are there? if more than 1 delete them all.

run "Net Stop HealthService" then go to >Program Files\system center operations manager 2007\health service state\health service store and delete ALL (edb, healthservicestore.edb, edb.chk, res1, res2) then Net Start HealthService.

So what we are doing here is stopping the HealthService deleting the store then starting it again, this may help for the Health Service to download the new rules, we are also checking that the cert is OK (there is always a cert) Had we been able to contact the agent via the console we could have used the 'Flush Cache' function which will dete those same files.

Solution;

Remove uninstall or remove agent from operation console.

Deploy agent from operation console or install manually,

re-import the mentinoned key from previous posts and start the service.

Stop RMS config service

Start RMS config service,

Stop RMS health service

Start RMS health Service.

Check event log; it should be communicating correctly.

For me the important registry keys that seemed to have gone missing where:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HealthService\Parameters\Management Groups\<Management Group Name>\SSDB\References
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HealthService\Parameters\State Directory
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HealthService\Parameters\Management Group\<Management Group >\Windows AccountLockDownSD

It will take a repair / reinstall of agent (or else a restore of the registry) to get that information back. Agent reinstall would be the easy route. Is that possible?
