Issue:

Alert Description: DiscoverWindowsNLBCluster.vbs : Failed to perform NLB cluster discovery due to
a WMI error (Provider load failure ). Please ensure that the NLB WMI provider is working properly.

It’s a TMG 2010 Standard standalone server so NLB is not expected here and is not supported.

NLB is not supported in Forefront TMG Standard Edition

Issue: Network Load Balancing on Forefront TMG Standard Edition is not supported.

Cause: Forefront TMG Standard Edition cannot operate in a multi-server array, so integrated NLB is not possible. Consequently, multiple Standard Edition servers operating in an NLB cluster cannot be peer-aware. Management and maintenance of such a deployment is too difficult to be supportable.

Solution: No workaround. To obtain support for NLB with Forefront TMG you must
use the Enterprise version.

Resolution:

DiscoverWindowsNLBCluster.vbs checks the NLB driver state and if it’s started continues to discover an NLB node.

You can run the following WMI query to ensure the driver is started:

SELECT Name FROM Win32_SystemDriver WHERE Name=’WLBS’ AND StartMode=’System’
(run the WBEMTEST tool, connect to root\cimv2 namespace and run the query above).

You need to disable the driver and shut it down.

Open Device Manager, select ‘Show Hidden Devices’ from the View menu. Then go to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers, find the Network Load Balancing (NLB). Open properties, select startup type = Demand and click Stop button. Click OK.
