Alert: DNS 2008/R2 Zone SOA Configuration Alert
Management Pack Name: Microsoft Windows DNS 2008/R2 Server
Management Pack Version: 6.0.7000.0
Rule or Monitor: Monitor
Rule or Monitor Name: DNS 2008/R2 Correct the Zone SOA Configuration Problem Monitor
Rule or Monitor Notes: This monitor has a warning and healthy state. Unhealthy is when the “DNS Server” with an event number of 800 from the Event Source of “Microsoft-Windows-DNS-Server-Service”. The healthy condition is when the “DNS Server” with an event number of 7600 from the Event Source of “Microsoft-Windows-DNS-Server-Service”.
Issue: The warning state works correctly, but the second event raised (healthy) condition does not occur when the DNS zone is back online so this monitor does not return to a healthy condition. This is most likely a bug in the monitor, as the healthy condition may actually be an event #2 or #4 once the zone is back online. This issue was also submitted to connect at: https://connect.microsoft.com/SC/feedback/details/790318/dns-2008-r2-correct-the-zone-soa-configuration-problem-monitor-healthy-condition-does-not-work.
Resolution: Either manually reset the health state when this alert occurs, or disable this alert until the healthy condition issue can be resolved.
