Logical Disk Extension Management Pack64216

22/06/10 – Version 1.2 Released

The download has been updated with the latest version of the MP.  A number of people had reported issues with both reports which should now be resolved.

I have also had to change the certificate used to seal the management pack so if you were using the sealed version of the MP, you will need to export it before importing the new version.  If you were using the unsealed version, you should be able to upgrade.

    Looks very promising — it address most of logical disk maintenance. If I can suggest something on such early evaluation perion – please put any “real” report view to documentation.

    Morning, I added the Logical Disk Extension Management Pack yesterday and all is working ok except for the Free Space Report. The other report Top 10 Fragmented Logical Drives works fine.

    When going to run report I get the following error:-

    I added the MP to my site yesterday. I’ve got all the views working but the reports don’t show any data today. They had data yesterday however. Any ideas on what might have happened?

    I found that if I re-import the MP, it works. However, each day, in the morning, I find no data in the report again. I can’t find any maintenance jobs that would cause the issue either. Too bad, the report is really nice!

    I have just updated the download with a new version of the MP that should resolve all the issues with the reports. Thanks, David.

    I just downloaded it today v1.2.1.2. I’ve been trying to run the 2 reports for the past 3 hours and they show blank. What do I need to do? Thanks.

    I’m not having much luck with the report either.

    I got it to run once or twice, but then it quit on me.

    I’ve re-imported the Management Pack several times with no luck.

    Also, is there anyway to edit the report? The first few times when it did run the email wouldn’t send due to the heavy use of graphics.

    It’d be nice to be able to edit out that column, or duplicate it for an email only report.

    Didnt work for me. I imported it to my SCOM 2007 R2 and get an error when running the report in a pop-up and the monitoring views are empty. Are there any overrides that I need to implement?

    I only seem to get 2 reports, ‘Free Space’ and ‘Top 10 Fragmented…’

    is there a guide to this MP or an easy way for me to see the other reports.

    Thanks

    The disks are being analysed for fragmentation every 2 hours as the IntervalSeconds on the 21 x rules is set to 7200. This is pretty agressive and I’d thought a value of 86400 (daily) or 604800 (weekly) might be more sensible.

    This MP seems to work great untill you try to make a report of more then 10 servers, which results in a timeout. It is also not possible to use the report on a custom group. it should be great if someone would improve the report to work a litle better and to work with custom groups.. :)

    Nice Management Pack, Thank you.

    Will there be any support for logical drives that are mounted to directories in the future? Or is it supported now and I’m just missing something to enable it?

    Thanks,

    -Matt.

    Since it’s a community authored management pack, the features are really only added if the author has time. I am guessing this pack is just a gap filling until vNext.

    I’m seeing a condition where if this report is run early in the morning, I get no data.. only if it’s run later in the day and afternoon do we show data… SQL Team at the moment is thinking there’s something up with the time computation and it’s returning nothing, since there’s nothing yet to return —- I’m not a SQL guy, so I’m looking at it as best I can.. Anyone else having missing data if it’s ran early in the day?

    Great MP. These kind of reports should have been there out-of-the-box. Thanks.
    In the ‘Free Space Report’ I noticed the Computer Group parameter list is not sorted. I fixed that by editing the rdl file. Maybe you could add that to the next release.

    I changed:

    SELECT FullName, DisplayName
    FROM OperationsManagerDW.dbo.vManagedEntity with (nolock) where Path is null and FullName not like ‘%:%’ and DisplayName like ‘%Computer%’

    To:

    SELECT FullName, DisplayName
    FROM OperationsManagerDW.dbo.vManagedEntity with (nolock) where Path is null and FullName not like ‘%:%’ and DisplayName like ‘%Computer%’
    ORDER BY DisplayName

    Also. On the last row of the table the computer group Name is shown. Maybe a DisplayName would be nicer.
    I changed: <Value>=Parameters!Group.Value</Value></Textbox>
    To: <Value>=Parameters!Group.Label</Value></Textbox>

    I you want, you can download the RDL file here: https://sites.google.com/site/systemcentertechblogresources/scripts/Windows.LogicalDrives.FreeSpace.Report_MichielWouters_1.0.rdl?attredirects=0&d=1

    This MP seems to return incorrect disk sizes in het Free Space Report. Is this known? We are using Windows Server 2008 R2.

    great Management Pack!
    Is there a support for Cluster Server? I think I don’t see the cluster disk on our W2k8 File and SQL clusters in the monitoring view.

    Hi David:

    Have you seen any issues with CU6 and the FreeSpace by Logical Disk report? I run reports every couple of months and post CU6 all I get now is an empty report.

    Thanks;
    Bob
