I have implemented the Office365 management pack for SCOM and it’s pretty basic…..all it does is connect to the Office365 Message API and pull alerts from the Office365 message center. Unfortunately Microsoft’s alerts for Office365 are very generalized. They don’t really address issues with your specific subscription and address the overall status of the service which may or may not apply to you.
I’m looking at a couple of alternatives to measure the performance of “the last mile”. I’m wondering if anyone here has any insights on the best way to go about doing that?
Alternatively, *is* there any way to get performance metrics out of Office365 above and beyond what Microsoft exposes through MessageCenter?
We wound up using a 3rd party product called Exoprise. The tool conducts synthetic transactions from your users desktops to test Outlook connectivity and response times. The nice thing about the tool is that you can compare your company’s response times to Exoprise’s other customers….so essentially they are making crowd-sourced data available. Microsoft pretty much recommends Exoprise as the tool of choice to cover “the last mile”.
