Has anyone configured opmgr 2007r2 on citrix xenpp5 provisioned servers? I would like to know how this is done.
March 9, 2013 at 11:48 pm #111456Hi,
XenApp is for application delivery, are you just looking at distributed the console using this?
Or, do you mean that the servers that are to host the OpsMgr infrastructure are provisioned on XenServer? XenServer is the server virtualization software from Citrix.

March 11, 2013 at 6:34 pm #111485David, thanks for responding.
I am looking for information on monitoring Citrix Xenapp servers that are provisioned by Citrix Provisioning Service. I would like to know if OPMGR 2007R2 can do this. I need to supply SLA metrics every month on for our Citrix servers. Currently I use OPMGR 2007R2 which has agents installed on our legacy citrix servers. Can this be done on Citrix Servers that are provisioned? Hopefully that clears up any confusion on my original question.
March 12, 2013 at 7:58 am #111495There is a somewhat old MP from Citrix for XenApp at least: http://support.citrix.com/proddocs/topic/xenapp6-w2k8-enterprisemgmt/mom-v3-wrapper-v2.html. There is also some more up to date MPs from ComeTrade: http://www.managementproducts.comtrade.com/management_pack/citrix/Pages/default.aspx. I haven’t tested this myself but it could be worth to try it out by downloading the trial version and see if it gets you what you want.
Best regards

March 12, 2013 at 1:36 pm #111520I know SCOM 2012 handles Citrix provisioned servers well. Maybe someone else can explain for 2007R2.
The question can be asked; how does SCOM 2007R2 handle re-deploying the same server with the SCOM agent installed. The provisioning server will delete/remove a Citrix App server from the domain, then deploy from a template a new server with the same name. So you will have a new server SID but using an existing server name.
SCOM 2012 will connect the rebuilt server to the existing server object, ignoring the fact there is a new SID.
