The process by which Data Protection Manager checks for and corrects inconsistencies between a protected data source and its replica stored on the DPM server. A consistency check is performed only when normal mechanisms for recording changes to protected data, and for applying those changes to replicas, have been interrupted. Consistency checks can be scheduled or run manually depending on protection requirements.

This is the Hyper-V Terminology page on the System Center WIKI at System Center Central. The following are some common terms and acronyms associated with Hyper-V. There is also a list of updated terminology released in early 2008 as well
APIC – Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller – A device which allows priority levels to be assigned to its interrupt outputs.
Child Partition – Partition that hosts a guest operating system - All access to physical memory and devices by a child partition is provided via the Virtual Machine Bus (VMBus) or the hypervisor.
Hypercall – Interface for communication with the hypervisor - The hypercall interface accommodates access to the optimizations provided by the hypervisor.
Hypervisor – A layer of software that sits between the hardware and one or more operating systems. Its primary job is to provide isolated execution environments called partitions. The hypervisor controls and arbitrates access to the underlying hardware.

This is the Hyper-V page in the System Center WIKI at System Center Central.
Microsoft Hyper-V, formerly known as Windows Server Virtualization, is a hypervisor-based virtualization system for x64 systems was released on June 26th, 2008.
A free stand-alone version of Hyper-V, called Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 was released on October 1, 2008, which is a variant of Windows Server 2008 Core that includes full Hyper-V functionality; other Windows 2008 Server Roles are disabled, and there are limited Windows Services. The free 64 bit Hyper-V Core version is limited to a command line interface (CLI), where configuration of the Host or Parent (Hyper-V Core Server) O/S, physical hardware and software is done using shell commands. A new menu driven CLI interface does simplify initial configuration considerably, and some freely downloadable script files extend this concept.

This is the Authentication and Security page on the System Center WIKI at System Center Central.
Mutual Authentication takes one of two forms in Operations Manager – 1) Kerberos or 2) Certificate Authentication. This is a list of authentication failures compiled by Pete Zerger based on field experience and his MMS 2008 presentation on Gateway Scenarios in OpsMgr 2007 SP1, which can be downloaded HERE. Having helped many dozens (perhaps hundreds) of OpsMgr administrators troubleshoot mutual authentication issues, I have encountered many different scenarios. Here is a list of event IDs and potential explanations you may find helpful.
The following is a list of mutual authentication-related error messages and some general indicators of source cause. Some errors are Kerberos-related issues (like SPN problems) and some are related to certificate authentication. These errors are are also applicable to System Center Essentials 2007

This is the Overrides page in Operations Manager 2007 secion in the System Center WIKI at SystemCenterCentral.com
Best Practice for overrides is coverd in depth in the following TechNet article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/943239
Create a new MP to store overrides for each version of a management pack. If you import the three SQL 2005 MP’s, create a separate a overrides MP for each MP (SQL 2000, 2005 and 2008). Any overrides you create that are targeted at SQL 2005 types, you should store them in that overrides MP you created for that version
Creating a new management pack for storing overrides has the following advantages:
It simplifies the process of exporting customizations that were created in your test and pre-production environments to your production environment. For example, instead of exporting a default management pack that contains customizations from multiple management packs, you can export just the management pack that contains customization

Information related to Audit Collection Services, part of Operations Manager 2007 on the System Center WIKI.
ACS Events
By default the Audit Collection Forwarder and Collector services writes events to the local Operations Manager log to track changes and problems with service initialization, health and availability. In addition verbose logging can be enabled temporarily to provide more detailed information when troubleshooting installation and configuration issues.
Collector Intrinsic Events
This list represents the events generated on Collectors.
Note: Collector events are written to the Operations Manager log and also written to the ACS queue. When filtering data for queries, alerts or reports it is important to know many of the default Collector events share the same Event ID with Windows Server 2008 security events. In these cases users must also filter by the log source, _acs_src, for more accurate results.
