http://www.systemcentercentral.com/tabid/177/IndexId/59268/Default.aspx

In our old MOM 2005 environment we use Tasks to deploy custom applications.

It worked just fine, also under Server 2008 but since 2008 R2 we have the problem here that these tasks don't "really run" as the action account but as local system.

What I mean is:

I launch a VBScript that launches a Powershell Script that is supposed to write to the eventlog with this Description: "%username% $Environmentvar blahblah"

And what I get in the eventlog is:

"COMPUTERNAME$ blahblah" <- therefore the Environmentvar is null and user seems to be localsystem.

Now the funny thing is, the user that wrote into the eventlog is: The MOM Action Account.

The script mentioned here was just for testing purposes, the real script only relies on global variables that are loaded using Powershell Profiles, but when it runs as local system this profile won't get loaded.

As said, this occurs since Server 2008 R2 and I was wondering if anyone else faced a problem like this.

Okay, for future reference, putting your RMS in maintenance mode stops the Config service from processing data - no change is calculated, etc. In my experience, you wind up with a backlog of data to be processed and it can be difficult to get the RMS to doing it's job again.

Have you tried restarting SDK, Config and Health Services on the RMS? That would be a good start. Then, keep an eye on the OpsMgr Event Log on the RMS to see that it stops logging errors and goes back to doing it's job.

In the end, just be sure that RMS never goes into maintenance mode.

An updated version for the ReSearch This management pack has been created for the R2 version of the management pack and has been updated to work for MOM 2005 as well. There had been issues with this management pack and how it integrated with the new systemcentercentral.com website which should be addressed with the updated version. This management pack provides an easy way to investigate alerts in Operations Manager (and System Center Essentials, and MOM) and search for resolutions which the community has found when the alert occurs. The updated version of this management pack is available at: http://www.systemcentercentral.com/PackCatalog/PackCatalogDetails/tabid/145/IndexID/21716/Default.aspx.

I am working on a version which will work on OpsMgr 2007 RTM – hopefully later in the week.

WIth that being said, it would seem plausible your regular expression is problematic...can you post that expression so we can have a look and perhaps offer some alternatives?

In the end, you have performance concerns, so would be good to investigate latency a bit more closely (and trim the unnecessary). Have you looked in the Operations Manager Event Log on the RMS and MS for indications of latency? Event 2115 is generally a sure sign. More than 10 - 15 events an hour (depending on who you ask) is often be an indication of potential bottlenecks in the data layer. There are some articles to read to help you assess the situation.

Start with Kevin Holmans blog with these articles
