Hello,

i'm testing client protection with DPM 2010. I have configured a Win7 client to be protected by DPM 2010. Creating recovery points works fine, also the recovery with the DPM Admin Console. But end-user recovery (properties on backuped folders on the client - "restore previous versions"-tab) didn't work, there are no recovery points available.

I have configured end-user recovery in DPM, and it works on a fileserver share, but not on the local client folders.

Has anyone a working Client Protection ?

Thanks

http://www.systemcentercentral.com/tabid/177/IndexId/60311/Default.aspx

I have DPM 2007 running on an HP ProLiant DL380 G5 (Windows Server 2008 x64) with RAID 6 storage pool of SAS drives, and a Quantum SuperLoader 3 attached via Ultra320 SCSI.

We were doing disk-to-disk back-ups, until the superloader came in this week. I had no problem getting DPM to see the superloader drive, changer, and inventory the tapes. We have now added long-term back-up to our protection groups using tape.

Our protection groups are about 300 GB in size, and I had the first tape back-up scheduled for 10p at night. When I came in the next morning, the first protection group was still backing up to tape, and was not even half-way done. The tape back-up was writing at about 500 KB / sec.

I called Quantum, and we put the tape drive through every diagnostic test they could find and it passed with flying colors. There is no other device in this SCSI chain - just the server to the superloader, and the SCSI is terminated at the superloader.

I've got the latest firmware for the superloader library and the drive, as well as the SCSI card. I have the latest drive for the SCSI card from adaptect, and the latest drivers for the SuperLoader from Quantum.

Quantum suggested I use Microsofts "unknown medium changer" driver for the superloader library, but that caused DPM to stop seeing the library, so I changed it back.

During a tape back-up, the system resources on the server are well within the guidelines for good performance. My understanding is that the tape back-ups are being made from the existing disk back-ups so the data isn't being pulled over the network.

There are no errors in the Windows System Log or Application Log, and DPM does write to tape without a problem, it just takes forever!

Any ideas?

SQL 2008 is a bit tricky in that it's default can be a bit "too secure" (if there is such a thing). If you've eliminated the SecureBindings issue we see on SQL 2008 (and it seems you have by the articles you've checked), you may also want to run the Reporting Service Configuration (on the Start Menu) to make sure databases are present and accessible to the security context used by your Reporting Services service.
