hello!
I m testing sccm 2007 in a virtualizated host, 40 gb disk, 1 gb ram, 32bit dual core, 2003 server 32bit ent (doc+ddns+full update to last hostfix by windows upadate site), ms sql 2005 + sp2.
I satified all requirement proposed by sccm 2007 sp1.
I tried to launch the installation in mixed mode, UNSUCCESFULLY, 3 time, 3 errors.
I found in c:\ this log
<02-06-2010 13:36:22> ERROR(13): Failed to iterate cab file.
<02-06-2010 13:36:22> ERROR(13): Failed to expand the look up table files to the folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AI.
<02-06-2010 13:36:22> Could not import asset intelligence data.
<02-06-2010 13:36:22> Setup cannot create the required database tables. Contact your SQL administrator.
someone can help me?

1 GB of RAM is a bit low can you rasie this?
If you have installed this on a DC just for easy of the test and this is a No No really for the need of IIS.
However, what does the logs say on the SQL? Can you download the SMS Toolkit V2 and view the CCM logs with the SMS Trace tool to find the real errors and failings then report them back to us?
Are you using a Computer Account or have you using a user account? Is that account in the Administrators Group on the SQL and SCCM Box?

ok. thank for the help and sorry for my bad english
I can't gave more memory to vitual machine! I have tu run only sccm for 2 xp virtulal client.. my windows 7 64bit machine ha only 4 gb phisical ram
I attached the log of sql. It seem to be the more interesting because it was written at time on installation of sccm
I used sms trace, as you suggested.
Now I examined the 2 log on my c:
1) configmgrprereq.log -> one error: mmc updates for configuration manager; but I don't think taht this is the problem. I tried this monting to install the suggested hot fix, but I can do it because the hot fix tell me on a pop up that my 2003 system is already fixed to sp3.
2) configmgrsetup.log -> TWO RED ERROR!!! there are a cut & paste:
<02-06-2010 13:36:22> ERROR(13): Failed to iterate cab file.
<02-06-2010 13:36:22> ERROR(13): Failed to expand the look up table files to the folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AI.
I'm using domain's Administrator accout for the installation. Sql is autenticated in windows mode. sccm create the db "site_XXX", after the firt failed installation, i gave more permission to sa a nd administrator

Not enough info here other than what you know. Can you use the Computer Account instead of an admin account. Add this to the local amin group on the server. As this is a test uninstal SCCM then re-run with the above done, clear all logs before the install.
