Change Listening Port of Hyper-V Remote Control back to 2179?

My Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V host is currently not listening on TCP 2179, but is instead listening on port 5900. I think this is happening because I had a SCVMM 2008 agent on this host.

Anyone know how I change the port back to 2179? I have searched the Internet and searched the registry and cannot find a good answer.

Hi,

I think this may change depending one what version of VMM and what OS VMM was on when you deployed the agents.

Thanks for the links. My problem is that we found two of our Hyper-V R2 servers in test listening on port 5900. Something that does not seem to be normal unless it's a Virtual Server 2005 R2 server. These never were. Any idea how that could happen?

SCVMM2008 can modify the ports used. If you have it go to Administration,General, Remote Control and the default VMConnect port should be 2179 and VMRC 5900. Once you have changed the port, push the agent out.

Maybe you can use powershell to update it but I looked on MSDN and am not sure how to to it - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc136926(VS.85).aspx

As to how it could happen i think it has to be your scvmm agent or it any other remote control software like vnc?
