The ability to scope create a specific Category for Monitors the same way you can for Rules. This would allow for better notification scoping.
Challenge:
The criteria for subscriptions are sometimes insufficient to target the correct alerts. For example, an admin may want to create a subscription for critical alerts generated by an object's monitors but not generated by rules.
Solution:
Add alert "Categories" to the subscription engine and interface.

I think this is a great idea because it is simple. The only workaround I can think of is to create subscriptions for each and every rule and/or monitor which is quite cumbersome and makes for a cluttered notification menu. In practice, I'm not sure how much extra work it is to create subscriptions based on individual rules versus categories except in cases where there are large number of rules and monitors targeting an object and those rules and monitors have multiple categories.
