V2 improves on V1 by no longer requiring users to type or paste gateway and management server FQDN's in a second form. Gateway and management servers are now pre-populated when you connect to the RMS. The RMS is intentionally excluded :-) Make your selections, click Assign, and you're set.

FastTrack Scripting Host is a scripting language designed specifically for systems administrators. While Microsoft moves scripting more and more towards programming, FastTrack Scripting Host heads in the opposite direction. Our production OpsMgr 2007 R2 environment has over 30 gateways. Fault tolerance isn’t an option, so there are always two GW’s per untrusted domain. Our environment is “dynamic”, i.e. business functions need to quickly tack up/tear down customer facing environments.

Most of us wrote a Powershell script to handle assigning primary/failover management servers for a GW; perhaps a second script shows us if we are evenly distributing the GW load across all MS. This worked great until I had to retire a MS, replacing it with a server having a different hostname.

Instead, I wanted to try a forms application to see if

a) I could write one, and
'b) consolidate existing console apps or Powershell scripts.

This utility replaces Powershell scripts for these functions: 1. List primary/failover MS for all gateways in a management group 2. Assign primary/failover MS for a gateway This is raw; my first shot at a forms based app. Written in C# with VS 2010. I recently needed to retire a MS that was end of lease, and the replacement had a different hostname. Until this last one, we always P2P MS and DB roles to keep things easy when it's end of lease. Should be self explanatory, but if there are questions, drop me a line. This doesn't begin to pay it forward, but it's a start :-)

For OpsMgr 2007 and 2012, this script identifies top memory consuming processes (Process\Working Set perf counter with 100MB minimum) and logs the list in an Event 5000 in the Operations Manager Event Log. Designed to be used as a Diagnostic Task so you can pick up the event and generate an informational alert with list of top memory consuming processes

PARAMETERS:
NETWORKNAME - Should always be the local machine (localhost)
SLEEPTIME - milliseconds between samples (I tested with 2000)
NumberOfSamples - How many sample (I tested with 5)

Sample policy for OIS 6.3 (or Orchestrator 2012 beta 1) that will remove the computer, health service and health service watcher objects in maintenance mode.

Like the Opalis Sample Policy: Computer Maintenance Mode with Reboot for SCOM 2007 R2 policy, this policy begins with a custom start object that accepts the computer NetBIOS name as input.

To use, import into your OIS or Orchestrator environment, update the SCOM connection info and run.
