You can retrieve this info with get-SCSMClassInstance, but at first glance, updating from the Command Shell may not be simple. FOr example, here I retrieve a service request template based on it's name. $SMClassInst = Get-SCSMClassInstance |...

Was looking around the Service Manager Command Shell today and wondering if I could rename, copy and even publish from PowerShell? I played about with get-SCSMObjectTemplate and get-SCClassInstance, but didnt come to a solution.

I do a lot of manual agent installs and  fear that agents are not automatically falling back to another MS. Is that possible? I tried this solution in  my lab and thought it was pretty handy. Do you think it is a good solution for bala...

As long as the group and the override are in the same MP you are fine. It's just that you can't refer from one MP to another, unsealed, MP.

Also, I don't think you can target overrides against custom groups that you have created unless you first seal the MP the group is stored in and import it.

You can't target groups with monitors (in 2012 this will be possible though). You have to create a monitor that is disabled by default, and then you enable it only for that group.

Yes it will work as long as you are exporting it from a 2007 environment. Exported Management Packs from 2012 won't be readable by the Authoring Console.

My wife would likely say that one of the curses of being married to an IT geek is that you end up with all of the techno-hand-me-down’s. Her laptop is a good example of this. At the time it was purchased it was an excellent system but as requirements hav...

Servicing Windows, which are a new feature available in VMM 2012 are given little attention in product documentation, perhaps because they don’t really have a direct use in the VMM 2012 UI. Servicing Windows allow you to establish the windows of time dur...
