SCOM Exchange2010 MP :Database Service State not monitored.
I notice that under the Database Service Health State view for the Exchange2010 MP that it shows that all of my Exchange2010 database as "not monitored".   The discovery rules are obviously working since the console is able to articulate the Exchange databases...and as far as I can tell the health state monitors for the Exchange databases are enabled.....has anybody run into this problem before?

Unified Installer error when installing SCCM
I'm trying to use the System Center Unified Installer to install SCCM in my lab environment. I was able to use the Unified Installer to install Orchestrator, but when it tries to install SCCM, the installer errors out.  Looking at the log, I see this: 5/16/2012 3:44:00 PM] INFO - Starting Runbook execution: XXXXXXXX SCUI CLI Path: C:\Temp\Unified Installer\UIInstall Deployment Pack path: C:\Temp\Unified Installer\UIInstall\DeploymentPack.xml [5/16/2012 3:44:02 PM] ERROR - Could not execute Runbook: An error occurred while processing this request.  <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <error xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2007/08/dataservices/metadata">   <code></code>   <message xml:lang="en-US">The requested operation requires Publish permissions on the Runbook</message> </error&a

Exchange 2010 MP and SCOM2012
The Exchagne2010 MP installs the correlation engine on on the RMS.  In SCOM2012 the RMS goes away.   So does that correlation engine still just live on that one RMS.....which in a SCOM2012 upgrade scenario becomes just another MS?

Cumulative Update / Update Rollup 1 already released
http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2012/05/09/update-to-update-rollup-1-for-system-center-2012.aspx  The CU's are now called "Update Rollups"....that was pretty fast to get an update rollup only a couple of weeks after RTM......kinda gives me more incentive to drag my feet before upgrading my SCOM2007 environment.....they might come out with UR2 in a month!  :)

Having problems with the System Center unified installer
...Finally got around to using the Flash drive that they were giving out at MMS with all of the SC apps on them.  So I'm trying to use the unified installer in my lab environment and am running into all kinds of problems.  First off...the installer assumes that you want to install SQL server on each application VM instead of leveraging one central SQL server to host all of the System Center databases.   I don't even want to think how slow something like SCSM would run on a single VM with SQL installed when you try loading the OLAP cubes.... Then I had a problem getting the SCOM installation to work...the installer couldn't connect to my SQL database.  It tries to connect to SQL over port 1433, but it turns out that my named instance was listening on TCP 52082.  -took me a while to figure that one out.... Now I am trying to get the SCSM installation working but when I try connecting to my SQL server it is saying I don't have permis

No, I don't have any experience with SQL log shipping, but in theory it should work. Have you looked at the SCOM design guide to see what it says about log shipping? And now that SCOM agents report to a management server pool, having the agents fail over...

I'm not a big fan of multi-homing agents. It sounds great in theory, but I've seen some weird things happen on agents that are multi-homed....I noticed that in my environment, the agents that were multi-homed seemed to go into a grayed-out state much more...

What is the licensing cost for Veeam for VMWare monitoring for SCOM anyways?

I was very interested to see this fix: When Microsoft security update MS12-006 is installed on an OpsMgr management server, that management server can no longer communicate with the OpsMgr agent on any Linux or UNIX server. That particular bug affected me...

I think it's an ITIL thing......you wouldn't want end-users creating incidents.....how do they know it's an actual incident? For example perhaps you have a scheduled maintenance period when your wireless network is down. Some end-user doesn't check the ma...

Yes, you apparently need to be an advanced operator in order to add company knowledge. I've always had a big problem with this because I wanted all of my SCOM users to add information to the company knowledge-base and I didn't want to necessarily give the...

There is a SCOM report that can show that. Look under System Center Core Monitoring Reports. There is a report called "Agents by Health State"

Your product is interesting to me. As a SCOM administrator, I am interested in building Dashboards that reflect monitoring data from multiple monitoring tools, not just SCOM. So for example, I would like to build dashboards that show data from different m...

So from looking at your website, I'm not clear on what this solution gives you that can't be done with the native Sharepoint integration that is now built into SCOM2012? Couldn't you simply use multiple web parts in Sharepoint performance dashboards to ac...

Darn it, that post was 2 years ago and I can't remember what I did to fix the issue. I have a vague recollection of that technet article actually working eventually.....I think it was something about how I formatted the XML code that caused it not to work...

At MMS they gave us the entire System Center 2012 suite on a USB drive.....looking at the documentation links for SCVMM on the main index, it appears that there is no support for ESX 5.x yet?     Can somebody confirm that this is indeed the cas...

So at first glance it looks like the official criteria states that you need to pass a test on SCOM and then another for SCVMM......but if you dig into the "skills measured" portion of the curriculum it states that you need to know SCORCH and SCSM as well....
