Greg Zygadlo RE: Re: Service Request v Incident
My big reason for asking is that one of the requirements for us is that the users can email the helpdesk and have a service request generated, but by the sounds of it that can only be done via the portal.
Greg Zygadlo post a question under Service Manager.
Service Request v Incident
I have been working with this in my lab and noticed today that if a user enters a request via the Portal it becomes a Service Request, but if one is sent in via email it becomes an incident. I'm trying to get a better understanding of the two and can't figure out why they both wouldn't have been either an incident or a service request. If anyone has a good link on this I would be most appreciative. Thanks

Incoming Email Processing
Is the only acceptable mail platform for incoming email processing is using an exchange server? Our company went to google mail and one of the requirements is for our end users to send mail messages to the helpdesk so that it can process and create an incident if they can't reach the portal. Thanks
Greg Zygadlo RE: VMM 2012 Service Crashing
I found the VMM event log and it ended up being an issue with the database itself.  Seeing the RTM bits came out and you couldn't upgrade from RC to RTM, I decided to re-create and create a new database and that solved issue. I will need to make sure that the database is backed up so that if this happens again I can restore the database.

VMM 2012 Service Crashing
I'm trying to troubleshoot why my service keeps crashing.  All it says in the event log is that the service terminated unexpectedly. Is there a place where any logs are stored to see if I can troubleshoot and find out the reason behind it. I have rebooted the VMM server and it is still doing it.

I'm currently looking at replacing my current helpdesk (BMC Trackit) and looking at both Spiceworks and SCSM 2012. One thing that I like about SCSM 2012 is the integration with the other System Center product lines and also the ability to customize the s...

I'm curious in Service Manager if there is a way that a Analyst could get their incidents to sync with Outlook and have them updated from Outlook instead of always having to have the console open?

Does anyone know if MS is going to release any mobile apps so that we can access the alerts on our mobile devices (Phone and Tablet).  Is the solution to just use the web console, but the issue I worried about is the fact that it requires silverlight...
