Scombag RE: Re: Sharepoint 2010 MP for SCOM 2007 R2
Ok, it transpires that I didn't have the correct version of the IIS MP installed, which is a recommendation in the Sharepoint document!. The IIS MP monitors the Sharepoint website URL's so actually no need for me to configure a seperate web application in the Authoring node.

Sharepoint 2010 MP for SCOM 2007 R2
Bit confused, I thought that the Sharepoint 2010 MP would monitor web url's for my Sharepoint sites. But when I stop iis on the Sharepoint server nothing happens. Everything looks ok when I look at the Web Applications view on my console it lists the web applications as being healthy even when iis has stopped. Do i need to setup seperate web application monitors in SCOM to monitor the url's or am I missing something with the Sharepoint MP?
Scombag RE: Re: Deploying SCOM agent to servers in a different trusted forest
Thanks for this response, we have trusts in place but it transpires they are not forest trusts so I think the gateway server is the way to go. Will I need a gateway server for each domain outwith the master domain that does not have a forest trust in place, or will one gateway suffice?

Deploying SCOM agent to servers in a different trusted forest
I understand it is possible to use an existing SCOM management group to monitor servers in a different forest without using certificates or a gateway server if a 2 way transitive trust exists between them. Does anyone else use this configuration and if so I was wondering if there was a guide available or a list of things to consider? Any feedback appreciated.

SCOM collecting customised perfmon counters
Hi, Just wondering if anyone has any experience of creating customised perfmon counters for collection by SCOM rules on windows servers? Currently I use rules that exist in the Management Packs to collect existing perfmon counters on the respective windows servers. Now I have been asked to collect metrics using SCOM for permon counters that don't actually exist i.e. MS Sharepoint number of sites. Is anyone aware of any tools that can be used to create custom performance counters? Any feedback or guidance appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response, appreciate your feedback. The RMS and Management servers have their own health service even though you don't need to install an agent so this is why I thought they would still show up on the console? Upon reflection th...

Thanks for the quick response, appreciate it. Do the SCOM monitoring SCOM monitors you refer to come as part of the installation or is there a seperate management pack to install?

Looking for some advice on the best practice for monitoring my SCOM 2007 R2 management servers. Can SCOM be configured to monitor itself or does this create problems??
