gchamby RE: Custom monitor using script available in a distributed app?
Ok, I'm obviously a bit fried after looking at SCOM this long but these monitors were not created in the wizard but in fact are just custom two-state script monitors created out of the authoring tab. Oddly, they are targeted at the Management Servers but I don't know why we would have done that necessarily.    Sorry for the confusion but am still curious as to other comments on this.   Thanks.
gchamby post a question under Operations Manager.
Custom monitor using script available in a distributed app?
Greetings all. I've seen variations of this question in other places and apologize if this is the hundredth time this has come up. However, we've created a handlful of custom monitors using the Ops Mgr Console, Authoring Tab, Monitoring Wizard.    Most of these are scripted file checks tied to a two-state monitor simply reporting Good/Bad. Apparently when created this way these monitors show up under the Local Availability portion of the watcher node and are targeted to the Health Service?   So, we'd like to take these specific handful of checks and separate them out so we can use them as a sub-component of a DA. Does this mean I have to create these in the separate Authoring Console?   If I did add the Health Service or Health Service watchers for my watcher node would I in fact get these script monitors but also everything else?     Thanks in advance for your help.
gchamby RE: Re: One-off requirement for custom field or view in Monitoring tab?
Thanks for the detailed reply Stefan. Good points all but I'm somewhat confused by the last paragraph on alerts: So then, if an app generated an alert I may not be able to figure out the source system it came from? I guess in general when looking at the alert views I thought you could always see a path or something that would lead you to the correct computer, no? Take care.

Greetings. I'm soliciting input for the best way to handle an odd case here. This client has a number of customer owned systems that they manage. The name, IP, etc, etc. of the managed computer is all determined by the end user - my client responsible for...

Hmm, OK this is resolved by going into the Run As profile automatically created for this monitor and removing the credentials?    Upon doing this I could delete the entity. Is this by design? I'm not sure what the error means exactly and I don't...

Greetings all. Merely for the purposes of testing and validating some Run As accounts I have created two different DB checks. I added them in the Default Mgmt Pack as I thought they were only temporary.   I created the monitor as disabled, ove...
