Over the life any Microsoft product, there are people in the community that reveal answers to undocumented (or under-documented) features along the way that can change the way we all use the product.  This week we felt we must take a look back a few weeks to recognize a truly exceptional piece of work that demonstrated how to leverage the R2 PowerShell modules in Operations Manager 2007 in a way not seen anywhere.

Like the winner of Post of the Week #1, our winner for week two has shared some very enlightening information, which is a great help for management pack authors everywhere. The winner is Stefan Koell of Vienna, Austria for his four part series and sample management pack demonstrating how to create a two-state monitor using the new PowerShell modules released in OpsMgr 2007 R2.

Read about Stefan's MP authoring series that reveals step-by-step how to leverage the R2 PowerShell modules in your custom management pack.

How to create a Two-State PowerShell Script Monitor using the Authoring Console (4-parts + MP download)

Stefan's name goes into the hat for the grand prize drawing at MMS 2010 in Las Vegas!

More from Stefan...

Stefan maintains a blog here on SCC, but maintains a very popular website Code4ward.net, where he maintains a very popular application, Royal TS, which is a remote desktop connection management application. He is also the author of Log Smith for OpsMgr 2007, which is great for revealing event parameters when you're authoring event-based rules and monitors.

SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS

We want to give a special shout out to proud Gold Sponsor Quest Software, who helps make all of this possible. As we've said in the past..great company with great people we've enjoyed working with over the years. They're doing some truly amazing things in the System Center space, and not just with Operations Manager 2007. They have cross-platform solutions for ConfigMgr 2007 and even auto-provisioning solutions for  SCVMM and Hyper-V, and much more.

Looks like the outfit from my profile picture fits the dress code for Vegas ;-)

I have been to Vegas, and your outfit would totally work there. It's pretty ridiculous on the strip! Just wanted to see cheers for this series. I am trying to create an MP using your series as an example to show my management as one way Powershell on our servers would be really useful. Thanks for sharing your work!
