faq Do you  know what the Infrastructure Planning & Design Series is about? In one sentence, they are the definitive guides to the decision criteria at each step of the design and planning process for a given technology. They are actually a replacement  for the Windows Server System Reference Architecture.

And for me, that are a valuable part of my own design validation process. They help me add an extra layer of validation to my own decisions on an infrastructure  solution design.

For example, the Server Virtualization Guide takes you through

  • Defining the technical decision flow through the planning process.
  • Listing the decisions to be made and the commonly available options and considerations.
  • Relating the decisions and options to the business in terms of cost, complexity, and other characteristics.
  • Framing decisions in terms of additional questions to the business to ensure a comprehensive alignment with the appropriate business landscape.
